AJ’s is perhaps the most popular restaurant in Destin Florida. The owner Allen Laird opened AJ’s back in the late 80′s as a drive-threw convienent store. AJ’s was actually located along Hwy 98 next to Harbor Docks in the Building that is now called Gilligans. He expanded the store into a full service restaurant serving seafood and burgers.

Sometime in the mid 90′s Allen moved to dock side location in which AJ’s is located now. Although you would not recognise the restaurant from is original structure. Thanks to few Hurricans and the need to expand, AJ’s has transformed and remodeled several times to it’s present condition and design. The restaurant has become a massive structure with 3 floors of dining, bars, and dancing. Allen also added the existance of Club Bimin in the late 90′s which is located on the top floor and deck of AJ’s. I’ve know Allen for many years and I would have to say that highly impressed with what he has done to the restaurant.

AJ’s offers some of the best views of the gulf and harbor Destin has to offer. From up on the top deck you can see out to the Destin pass. The restaurant sits right on the docks were the boats unload the catch of the day. The dining atmosphere is simple awesome. The restaurant has this nautical and carribean feel that just puts you in the mood for feasting and partying. I would have to say AJ’s has the best atmosphere and location of any restaurnt in Destin Florida.

So far as the food, AJ’s offers a large selection of fried seafood, grilled and broiled platters, and even some pasta. The food is good but you better bring a fat wallet. You will deffinently be paying for the view.
